Summary of interview
Li Ka Ho and his mother, Cheung Yi Chau, recall how they succumbed to SARS, were admitted to hospital and their stay in the hospital ward. After discharge from hospital, they still had to face discrimination by their neighbors, such as having disinfecting fluid splashed onto their balcony. Li was at first determined to become a nurse because the medical staff took good care of him. He even served as a nursing intern in a hospital for a while. However, he felt rather frustrated on the sudden suspension of medical assistance and class suspension. His mother also thought that assistance from the government was insufficient. They hope their interview could raise the public awareness of the problems many former SARS patients still have to face; lessons learned from SARS should not be forgotten.
