Summary of interview
Tang Guizhen recalls her feelings and work, as a cleaner in the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, during SARS. She was a Workman II assigned to the cleaning team, Wong Tai Sin District. In April 2003, she followed the order to clean and disinfect the apartments in Block E, Amoy Gardens, after the evacuation of the residents to the quarantine camps. She speaks of the concerns and fears among the cleaners since the site was a high risk area. Despite lack of adequate information and protective gear were in short supply, the cleaners, for the sake of serving the public, remained at their posts, even though they could not suppress their tears at times. She hopes the public would understand the contribution of the workers.
