Due to maintenance works, the side entrance (near U Lam Terrace) has been temporarily closed until 5 February 2025. Please use the main entrance during this period. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Routes to the Museum

By MTR

Sai Ying Pun Station – via Island Line (Station Location)

Exit C: Take the lift to Bonham Road, walk eastwards along Bonham Road and Caine Road to Ladder Street, then walk down Ladder Street and turn left after the first flight of steps into Caine Lane to reach the Museum Main Entrance(approximately 15 minutes).

By Bus or Minibus

Take any bus or green minibus service running via Caine Road and alight at Ladder Street.

From Central to Caine Road (westbound): (Bus Stop Location)

Buses: 12, 13, 23, 40, 103
Green Minibuses: 10, 22, 22S, 28, 31

Alight at Ladder Street bus stop on Caine Road, cross the road, walk down Ladder Street and turn left after the first flight of steps into Caine Lane to reach the Museum Main Entrance(approximately 5 minutes).

From Pok Fu Lam to Caine Road (eastbound): (Bus Stop Location) 

Buses: 40M, 103
Green Minibuses: 10, 22, 22S, 28S, 31, 56B

Alight at Ladder Street bus stop on Caine Road (You are on the correct side of the road). Walk down Ladder Street and turn left after the first flight of steps into Caine Lane to reach the Museum Main Entrance(approximately 3-5 minutes).

By walking from Central, using the Central-to-Mid-Levels escalators

Use the "Central - Mid-Levels Escalators" (after 10:30am) from Central to Caine Road, and walk westwards along Caine Road to Ladder Street. Walk down Ladder Street and turn left after the first flight of steps into Caine Lane to reach the Museum Main Entrance(approximately 10-15 minutes).

By Taxi or Car

From Hollywood Road, turn right at Man Mo Temple into Square Street, pass Kui In Fong and Blake Garden, continue straight ahead and ascend Caine Lane (Map) till you reach the Museum entrance.

By Coach

Alight the coach at the Ladder Street bus stop (eastbound) on Caine Road, walk down Ladder Street and turn left after the first flight of steps into Caine Lane to reach the Museum Main Entrance(approximately 3-5 minutes).

Small coach: Or from Hollywood Road, turn right at Man Mo Temple into Square Street, alight at the junction of Kui In Fong and Po Hing Fong, then walk up the stairs to reach the Museum side entrance(approximately 3-5 minutes).

Large coach: Or alight near Man Mo Temple on Hollywood Road, walk along Ladder Street and Square Street to Tank Lane, then walk straight up along Tank Lane to the Museum Side entrance(approximately 5-10 minutes).

Parking facilities

There is no parking facility at the Museum. Paid parking is available on Bridges Street (Centrestage Parking) just west of PMQ, and on Hollywood Road (Wilson Parking) just east of Man Mo Temple. Limited street parking is available on Po Hing Fong.

Groups Visit

Groups with 15 or more participants and settle payment 10 days prior to date of visit can enjoy 30% discount on admission fees. Applications should be made at least 4 weeks in advance before date of visit. Details

Photography on the Museum premises

Unless otherwise indicated, hand-held cameras may be used in the Museum building and in the garden to take photographs for private purposes. Using flash is prohibited at all times in the Museum building.

The following require prior written permission from the Management of the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences:

  • Wedding, portrait or cosplay photography, videotaping or filming;
  • Private photography, videotaping or filming in the Museum building requiring the use of a stand, special lighting or other equipment;
  • Commercial photography, videotaping or filming;
  • Photography, videotaping or filming for publication or broadcasting (irrespective of whether it is for profit or not).

Inclement Weather Arrangements

Museum Opening Arrangements

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 8 or above.

The Museum will be closed. If the signal is lowered before noon, the Museum will open after 2 hours.
Black Rainstorm Warning

If the warning is issued during normal opening hours, the Museum will remain open. If the warning is issued before opening hours, the Museum will be closed. If the warning is removed before noon, the Museum will open after 2 hours.

Black Rainstorm Warning

All programmes will be cancelled, including those scheduled to take place after the warning has been removed.
The Taipingshan Medical Heritage Trail Guided Tour and Other Outdoor Activities

It will be cancelled if Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above, or Yellow or Red Rainstorm Warnings are issued before 10am.
